Stage 1 Whittlesea Public Gardens Redevelopment

2023-04-05

Whittlesea Public Gardens, located on Barry Road, has been the heart of Lalor and Thomastown for decades. As the local community has changed over the past 20 years, the upgrade of Whittlesea Public Gardens will reflect the current and future recreation needs of residents.

Signaling a new era for the popular Lalor park, the upgrade will reenergise the area and create a modern space to get active, socialise and enjoy the outdoors.

The redevelopment of Whittlesea Public Gardens will be delivered in stages. The first stage of the redevelopment of Whittlesea Public Gardens includes an impressive new playground, equipped with a large play tower, double flying fox, rope climbing unit, swings, slides, in-ground trampolines, rockers, nature play and more.

The first stage of the upgrade also includes a new learn-to-ride area. It’s sure to be a hit with young cyclists, with the park’s fun-sized roundabouts, speed bumps, intersections and crossings, providing hours of fun and education.

The first stage of the redevelopment has now been completed and is ready for use with future stages to include skate park, upgrade to the dog off-leash area, rock climbing wall, basketball/multipurpose courts and outdoor fitness equipment.

Being only 200m from Marran Run, these facilities and open green space will be on your doorstep for the whole family to enjoy.
